I admit I lost some sleep last night Are you sho

I lost some sleep last night

Are you shopping on Amazon prime day?

I'm a girl who loves to shop and find THE deal

You can't blame me with 8 kids plus a grandson to be tapping my cell phone in the dark

You most likely are guilty as well

That being said -

Today I'm not concerned about any material gift

My heart and soul knows that today is

#nationalmbcawarenessday

OCTOBER is a month

I'm a Libra

October is a great month

I like the color pink

And I have no issues with raising BC awareness

And more importantly, still

For myself --- I am

Celebrating approximately 168,000 badass friends who are diagnosed similarly to me

I know that in 2020 there is treatment and you can be an outlier to a three-year prognosis

But in 2020, there is still no cure

I'm thinking of the 42,600 souls who we lost in 2019

And there is still not a cure for this disease

I'm feeling empathy for their families

and I am always having gut rot when I think of the young mothers losing their lives with their children. And the small children who have lost their mothers

I see de nova mbc patients who are triple-negative
their treatments are more difficult than my own
And their statistics are horrific.
My heart goes to them and they are in my thoughts

And still, there is not a cure

I have so many reasons to celebrate this day

I am still here
I am learning so much from this journey
I've met fellow MBC friends
I've seen other de nova patients survive
beyond their prognosis

I am grateful and blessed to be one who is

still living and thriving while dealing with

this noncurable disease every day

RESULTS ARE HERE⁠

I had a six month PET/Scan⁠
& a follow-up MRI checking my Craniotomy and SRS radiation.⁠
⁠
Steve and I and our entire Cancer Crew are happy to say that.⁠
⁠
Today everything looks steady and stable.⁠
⁠
There are no new lesions/tumors in both my brain or body.⁠
⁠
Celebratory dance⁠
⁠
My brain shows less swelling then the previous MRI in August.⁠
⁠
The tumors that we treated with the SRS radiation have not changed or grown.⁠
⁠
HORRAY⁠
⁠
Yes, I am breathing a little easier.⁠
⁠
I will continue to move forward and plan and dream and not obsess with what I can not control.⁠
⁠
I have to wish my sweet husband the best day and look forward to building our blessed life together.⁠

What’s been on our minds -

Incase you’ve been out of the loop

We’ve had a bit of an ordeal looming

We did our best — and then kept faith that the universe would have the final decision moving forward. And it would be exactly what was needed. No matter the outcome.

I promised weeks ago that I would share more of the story. Today is the day.

Anything I can learn along the way I feel important to share with others.

Baby steps for me always and listening to my body.

BTW -

My high school nickname is “Mighty Mouse”

I was a sprinter on the team and lettered all four years.

Slowing down physically has been something I learn from each day.

Taking care of myself by speaking up and sitting down or putting my feet up for a bit. This a a new learned behavior for me.

But this walk was a milestone for me.

The pace was slow and steady at 2 mph

The length has increased to 3 miles

The terrain is mostly flat with occasional river rock of different sizes.
This is a good test for my stability and It has improved significantly.

Thank you Dexamethasone for keeping me on my feet and not on my ass.

Steve and I celebrated and each enjoyed one croissant.

Steve reminded me it is his birthday cake.

How do you refer to being
very close to home and social distancing?

Yep, we needed a break

We drove from from Midway,Ut
to Los Angeles.

We had a great time and always kept Covid19 and my current cancer treamemt in mind.

It was so nice to visit with
family and friends that we hand
not seen in months.

My personal highlights

Enjoying and catching up with
my 27 year old son. It was great to hear about his daily life. And always warms this "momma's" heart when your son shares his plans.

I don't know what your experience is

But raising boys there were times when they have been "mia"

meaning Missing In Action
This is how I lovingly refer to my kids when they don't want to talk at any given moment.
Once I learned to not take this personally I adjusted and most likely was a little better with these relationships.

appointment maker, grocery shopper, and generally get it done assistant.
The guy who, while putting up with his ”type a” personality wife, is the kindest person you may ever meet?

I am a blessed woman to have Steve be mine.

As a cancer patient, I have a regular echocardiogram

The cancer meds that need to be in a cancer patient's body can cause issues with the flow and muscle of your heart. So they watch close just to stay on top of it and make sure. I'm getting a good report today. And I am oh so grateful.

We are crossing that one off the list for a time.
